February Film Festivals

February 2016 is a month for all the film lovers out there. From February 3rd – 10th Istanbul International Short Film Festival will take place and from February 18th – 28th !f Istanbul Independent Film Festival will take place. Selected movies from the latter will also be shown in Ankara and Izmir (March 03 – 06).

27. Istanbul International Short Film Festival / 27. İstanbul Uluslararası Kısa Film Festivali

This festival should have take place already in November 2015, howere it has been postponed  to February 3rd – 10th. It will take place in 3 different cultural institues in Beyoğlu, Istanbul: German, French and Italian. Films are divided into 4 categories: fiction, animation, experimental and short documentary. 15. !f Istanbul Independent Film Festival / 15. !f İstanbul Uluslararası Bağımsız Filmler Festivali

!f  Film Festival takes place in 3 different cities in Turkey. The first (and the richest) part of festival takes place in 4 different cinemas in Istanbul. As organizers wrote on the official page, the festival is “dedicated to showcasing the best in contemporary film”. Most movies, presented this year were released in 2015, however this year’s festival pays also a small tribute to David Bowie. The !f Special Screening section focuses on Manoel de Oliveira, Kazuo Hara and Adam Curtis.

The festival is not only about watching movies, but also talking about movies. Besides movie screenings, film lovers can also attend workshops, small conversations&interventions and two different parties.

P.S.: All the lovers of Orhan Pamuk’s Museum of Innocence don’t miss movie, which is based on this book, Innocence of Memories.
